ESTABLISHED LAWN:
Apply as soon as the fi nal snow has melted. Apply SuperTurf 29-3-4
All in One Lawn Fertilizer at the rate of 1.7 kg/100 m2 or 3.5 lbs/1000
ft2). Subsequent applications may be made every 6 to 8 weeks. Do not
apply during prolonged hot and dry weather.
NEWLY SEEDED LAWN:
Do not apply this product until the grass has been cut twice.
NEWLY SODDED LAWN:
Do not apply this product until four weeks after the sod was laid.
Do not apply to sod that is under moisture or heat stress.
LAWN WATERING TIPS:
Lawn need 2.5 cm (1 in) of water per week during the growing season.
Supplement rainfall only if needed. Early morning or evening are the
best times of day to water. Water less often, but for longer periods
to encourage deeper roots. Open, sunny areas require more water than
shaded areas. Sprinklers are easier to use and provide more even
coverage than watering by hand.
MOVING TIPS:
Avoid cutting grass too short. Mowing at 5-6 cm (2 to 3 in) makes
the turf more resistant to heat stress and requires less watering.
Keep mower blades sharp to avoid shredding or tearing grass blades,
which could result in a yellow lawn. If your grass has grown too
tall, do not cut off more than 1/3 of the grass in a single mowing.
Mow when grass is dry to prevent grass clippings from clumping.
HOW TO MEASURE THE SIZE OF
YOUR LAWN:
In order to apply the correct
amount of fertilizer, you must know the area to fertilize. Use
consistent units of measurement in feet or metres. For rectangular
lawn: Measure the length and multiply by the width to calculate the
total area of your lawn. For irregularly shaped lawn: If your
property is pie-shaped or resembles more of a triangle than a
square, simply take the largest width, multiply by the longest
length and divide by two.
HOW TO APPLY:
Apply with a fertilizer spreader; the rotary type is the best. Do
NOT apply by throwing the fertilizer by hand. We recommend that you
go over the lawn twice but only apply half the amount of fertilizer
each time. First walk up and down the lawn, then back and forth
across the lawn. This helps provide even coverage and prevents
missing spots and overlapping. Shut off spreader when fi lling and
before turning corners or stopping to prevent burning due to
excessive application. Hose out spreader after use and sweep up any
spills. Irrigate with 2 cm (approx. 1 in) of water immediately
following application.
